Alright...first off...I know there's been some press out
there on the current situation of my label, Universal South.
I think there are a lot of people wondering if my new album
will get lost in the mix, etc. And you know what, I think
you deserve the truth, so here it is....I DON'T EVEN KNOW
YET!! I've heard a lot of wonderful things about Mark Wright
(Uni-South's new president who won't be coming over until
2007) and look forward to possibly working with him.
Regardless of what happens over there, I am confident that
my project will fall in good hands...it just may take a
little longer to be released!
All I know is that I've made an album that I couldn't be
more proud of, something that truly comes from my soul...and
I am going to FIGHT for it! In my (humble) opinion, we've
worked too hard on this thing, and it means too much to me
to let it not be heard, so bottom line--I think this change
is needed and will bring GREAT THINGS!!!

Now...I just want to say what a huge JoDee Messina fan I have always been.
There is not one female out there who performs like she
does...she is a true entertainer. When I was fourteen, I
went to one of her shows and a few hours before her show, I
saw her at a restaurant and asked to take a picture but then
I realized she wasn't all dolled up so I said I could wait
'til later...I guess she really appreciated that because
before her show, she had her tour manager go to her bus and
get like an extra special photo thing of her and wrote the
sweetest message on my pic and was so kind to me....that
really stuck with me too as far as thinking that later on, I
wanted to be as freakin' cool as she is to her fans! Well,
anyway, a few weeks ago, I got the honor of opening for her
in Missoula, Montana, which, by the way, was my favorite show
I have EVER done solely because of the kick @$$ crowd!! And JoDee got up afterward and said some of the sweetest things
about me. I was sitting back at the sound booth watching her
show and I got teary! She was soooo sweet! Then, later in the
show she performed a song called "I Wear My Life" from her
Delicious Surprise CD, which I wrote, so the waterworks
began again!!
Anyway...she said that she'd seen a lot of injustices in
the music business and that she hoped my music got heard,
and I think that is SO COOL of her to say...but I think it
is an injustice that SHE is not a bigger star than she
already is!! What a phenomenal performer and a great person
no less!!

CMA AWARDS: Don't you hate when you put something on at
home and you're like "Dang right, I am one sexy beast!!"
hahaha! and then you go on to the red carpet (or
wherever...you get the gist) and get your picture taken and
go "Oh crap...the beast is not so sexy!!" haha! Yeah, I'm
having major fashion remorse this morning...I was super
proud of myself because I am ever the bargain hunter and
thought, "screw it, I am gonna get a bargain for the CMAs,"
so I got this dress and the jewelry and everything all for a
grand total of less than $200!! In retrospect...shoulda
sprung for Prada!!

So I think we've covered a lot of ground here, huh?!
I'll try not to let it be too long until I write again,
but let's not kid ourselves...I am a flake and there's a
really good chance that I'll forget until like mid-2007! (kidding!)

All of you who write me sweet messages and are out there
championing me and my music-you don't know how much you mean
to me. It's super frustrating sometimes feeling like you
have no control over whether or not the people hear your
music...you make me feel heard, and appreciated and I
absolutely could not keep on truckin' if it weren't for your
words of encouragement and undying belief in what I do!!

So....things have been pretty busy lately. CMA FanFest was awesome! I had so much fun!! Two days before
my performance there, I got a little puppy! Her name is
Sophie and she is a sweetie pie. She came with me to my
performance at Riverstages and to the GAC booth!! We're
housebreaking now. It sucks!!!
I am so excited that I have a single coming out in less
than a month! I've learned SO much since the last time I had
a single out...like to just enjoy the ride!! I'm having so
much fun preparing for the release.....were doing the video
in a few weeks (needless to say, there is a lot of Tae-Bo
going on in my house now!) which is scary and exciting all
at once!! Trey Fanjoy is directing so I feel really
comfortable.....she's incredible and always makes people
look so good!!
Alright, I am gonna go for a run! I am addicted to this
weather! I love summer!!!!!
